Cyprus HoneyBee Routes

A long day in the HoneyBee Region of Rural Larnaca (Cyprus)

#1 Begin the tour from Skarinou to visit the Environmental Information Centre of Larnaca Mountainous Areas

The Environmental Information Centre provides a first-hand information on the flora and fauna of the rural region of Larnaka. At the centre you can also collect information about the attractions and the points of interest in the region of mountainous Larnaka.

#2 Visit the Bee & Embroidery Museum in Kato Drys

Located in the mountainous village of Kato Drys, the interesting and comprehensive Bee & Embroidery Museum is housed in a 300-year-old residence. It features exhibits that showcase a villager’s daily life through the ages - including old farming and household equipment and furniture – alongside information and displays related to bees and local beekeeping practises.

#3 Become a Beekeeper for a Day or simply choose to create your own beeswax candles at Ecophysis in Vavla village

Enjoy the Cypriot countryside and experience the art of beekeeping and learn how to handcraft your own beeswax candles. Find out the secrets of making pure honey and enjoy the art of handcrafting honeybee products.

At G.S Ecophysis Ltd, owners Georgia Shoshilou and her husband Costas Stylianou possess the academic background and experience to introduce visitors in the wonderful life of the honeybees.

#4 Combine a tour and honey tasting with watching the Honey processing and bottling your own Honey in Odou at the premises of Oros Machaira honey processing

Follow the Journey of Knowledge about Bees in Odou village at Oros Machaira.  For those who value hands-on learning, the facilities allow for a  quick tour on the history of our family business through videos and an insight into the life of the hard-working bees through interactive games. Watch honey bottling and learn about the treasures of royal jelly, propolis and finally taste honey for free.

#5 Complete the tour with traditional coffee at Odou Village

Take a walk around the narrow pebble-stoned streets at Odou Village. The village is famous for its annual honeybee festival, organised each June.

End the tour with a traditional coffee and taste local honey at one of the local coffee shops (Ãéá ÐÜíôá ×åéìþíáò).
